Please join us Sunday, March 14, 2010 at Patrick Henry High School to pack dehydrated meals for Haiti through Stop Hunger Now, an international food relief organization. Roanoke area churches, colleges and civic groups are soliciting donations and volunteers for this event– a project to package 140,000 meals to send to Haiti in the aftermath of the recent earthquakes.
Working in shifts of one and a half hours, volunteers of all ages will assemble packets of rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables and a flavoring mix with vitamins and minerals. These packets will be shipped to Haiti in April.
Between 500 and 700 volunteers and $35,000 are needed to pack 140,000 meals. The event will last from 11 to 7 on Sunday, March 14.
We hope to make this event as diverse as possible and welcome volunteers of all ages, denominations and backgrounds. Our website is www.stophungernowroanoke.wordpress.com.
